CCAB And Triumvira Immunologics Announce Triumvira’s License Agreement with University of Toronto for the Discovery of Antibody Drug Development Candidates

AUSTIN, Texas & HAMILTON, Ontario & TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Centre for the Commercialization of Antibodies and Biologics (CCAB) and Triumvira Immunologics, Inc. (Triumvira), announced today a new licensing agreement between the University of Toronto (U of T) and Triumvira. The agreement provides Triumvira with an exclusive license for antibodies discovered at the U of T on specified therapeutic targets. Triumvira is a privately held biopharmaceutical company with R&D facilities in Hamilton, ON, that is developing a novel platform for engineering T cells to attack multiple cancer types.

CCAB is the assigned agent for the U of T for the commercialization of a large portfolio of human antibodies. Under the terms of the agreement, U of T will receive up-front fees, milestone payments and royalty payments on net sales of products on three therapeutic targets: BCMA, ROR1 and one undisclosed target.

The company is also developing a series of products for solid tumors.

Triumvira Presents Data on T Cell Antigen Coupler (TAC) Technology at the 6th Annual Immuno-Oncology Summit

TAC technology shows efficacy, safety, and TAC-T cell persistence in preclinical models of liquid and solid tumors

AUSTIN, TX, and HAMILTON, ON, August 30, 2018Triumvira Immunologics, Inc. (Triumvira), a privately-held biopharmaceutical company focused on designing safe and more effective T cell therapies, will present data today on its novel T cell therapy technology, TAC-T, during an oral presentation in the Adoptive T Cell Therapies session of the 6th Annual Immuno-Oncology Summit held in Boston. The presentation will describe the differentiated mechanism of action of the company’s T cell antigen coupler (TAC) technology in preclinical studies demonstrating strong efficacy in both solid and liquid tumors with an improved safety profile compared to traditional CAR-T approaches.

The oral presentation, entitled: TAC-T: a novel T cell therapy, co-opts the endogenous T cell receptor for effective, safe, and persistent tumor rejection, will be delivered by Christopher Helsen, PhD, Director of Research and Development at Triumvira. Results from pre-clinical studies with human T cells engineered with Triumvira’s proprietary TAC technology directed against different antigens will be presented. The data suggest that TAC-T cells destroy tumor cells via a mechanism that mimics the natural process of T cell activation. Results clearly demonstrate efficient infiltration and proliferation in solid tumors resulting in rapid and sustained tumor regression in mice without toxicity. Furthermore, in a xenograft model of multiple myeloma, treated mice showed resistance to tumor re-challenge indicating long-term persistence of TAC-T cells.

The article, titled “The chimeric TAC receptor co-opts the T cell receptor yielding robust anti-tumor activity without toxicity” presents results from pre-clinical studies with human T cells engineered with Triumvira’s proprietary TAC technology directed against multiple antigens. The results clearly demonstrate robust and antigen-specific cytokine production and cytotoxicity in vitro and strong anti-tumor activity in a variety of xenograft models, including solid and liquid tumors. In addition, the study observes that HER2-TAC T cells demonstrate robust penetration and local proliferation and activation in solid tumors.
